Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer supports the division’s business development goals through project management, new product introduction, capital justification/implementation, quoting support for repeat business, development of manufacturing plans and drive continuous improvement through lean initiatives throughout the operation. The ideal candidate will bring 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in a discreet/make to print tight tolerance tooling manufacturing environment. Preferably supporting the can tooling industry, along with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or appropriate discipline. 


  • Manage new process development projects and coordinate activities with various internal & external customers
  • Create APQP documents including Process Flow Diagrams, Process FMEA’s, and Control Plans
  • Lead capital and tooling acquisitions, analysis and strategies as assigned
  • Assist design engineering and manufacturing with input on design and applications of gages and fixtures
  • Interface with suppliers and development centers on best practice technology concepts for new product and process design
  • Develop, evaluate, and drive improvement in process methods and procedures
  • Participate in Program Launch meetings and be a part of prototype manufacturing runs.
  • Provide input for design for manufacturability, process yield and capacity.
  • Develop product BOM structure and routings to manufacturer as required 


  • Manufacturing Engineering: 5 years (Preferred)
  • Tight Tolerance Tooling Manufacturing: 5 years (Preferred)
  • BSME: 5 years (Preferred)


  • Bachelor’s degree Manufacturing Engineering or similar (Preferred)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (Preferred)


Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSME or similar plus 5+ year experience in tight tolerance (.0001-2 Tolerances, #4 Finish) tooling manufacturing of a make-to-order, high mix-low volume business. Prefer in the can tooling industry
  • Extensive experience in tool, fixture, work holding and manufacturing process development with knowledge of CAD and functional expertise in application of GD&T
  • Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization
  • Experience w/project management software (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet or similar)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (prefer IFS) and CAD SolidWorks
  • Ideal candidate has process knowledge of CNC Vertical Milling, CNC Lathes, CNC Wire EDM, Manual & CNC Surface/ID/OD Grinding, Jig Grinding, Polish
