Job Description

We have an immediate, direct hire opportunity in Dayton for an Accounting Specialist! 

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • assemble, review and verify invoices and check requests
  • flag and clarify any unusual or questionable invoice items or prices
  • sort, code and match invoices
  • set invoices up for payment
  • enter and upload invoices into system
  • track expenses and process expense reports
  • prepare and perform check runs
  • post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records
  • reconcile accounts payable transactions
  • prepare analysis of accounts payable and receivables
  • monitor accounts to ensure payments to vendors are up to date
  • research and resolve invoice payment and customer queries discrepancies and issues
  • maintain vendor files
  • correspond with vendors and customers and respond to inquiries
  • produce monthly reports
  • assist with month end closing
  • provide supporting documentation for audits
  • maintain accurate historical records
  • maintain confidentiality of organizational information
  • calculate and prepare 1099's
  • generate and send out invoices to customers
  • follow up on, collect and allocate payments
  • carry out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines
  • monitor customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
  • research and resolve payment discrepancies
  • generate age analysis
  • maintain accounts receivable customer files and records 

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Accounting required
  • knowledge of accounts payable & accounts receivable
  • knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • knowledge of relevant accounting software and Microsoft Office products
  • proficient in data entry and management
  • minimum 3-5 years accounts payable, receivable, or general accounting experience
