Job Description


We have an immediate, direct hire opportunity in the Dayton area for a Quality Engineer!

The Quality Engineer position is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing special projects to continuously improve product and process quality as well as quality system improvements. Activities include complaint investigation, inspection and test method development, implementation of engineering and manufacturing processes, including process validation, supplier quality, and risk management.

Essential Functions

1. Performs root cause analysis, corrective and preventative action planning, execution, and verification.
2. Plans and participates in cost of quality reduction projects.
3. Manages supplier qualification and auditing.
4. Develops quality plans as required by customer requirements
5. Develops and performs product inspection and testing.
6. Oversees complaint file management, complaint trending and analysis.
7. Performs process validation planning and execution, revalidation assessments.
8. Manages equipment and facilities calibration and maintenance.
9. Implements and trends manufacturing and quality system indicators (e.g. SPC, scrap trending, etc.)
10. Performs internal audits, as needed.
11. Identifies and implements Quality System Improvements.
12. Resolves detailed issues in a timely manner through technical writing and excellent documentation.
13. Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and use of statistical software such as MiniTab.
14. Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Minimum travel is expected for this position. No more than one week a month on average.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in engineering. Advance technical or management degree a plus.
1. At least three years of experience as a quality engineer. Working knowledge of blueprint reading and GD &T, statistical methods, SPC, Control Plans, and Problem solving methods, such as 5 why and 8-D.
2. At least five years of previous job-related experience in customized automation or robotics and/or precision machining.
3. Working within and or establishing quality systems such as AS9100, ISO9001, ISO13485 etc..
4. Experience working in a precision machining, fabrication and assembly environment.
5. Preferred Education and Experience
Certified Quality Engineer and/or Six Sigma belt certifications are a plus.
