Sr. Tooling Technician


Job Description

 Analyze tooling, assembly machines, and supporting equipment when operating below company standards. Concept and implement Improvement actions to optimize the performance of production tooling. Execute the prescribed maintenance plans to ensure a reliable tool is available for production. 

Duties Include: 

  • Analyze tools and supporting equipment.
  • Track and document trials to improve tool detail life.
  • Find root cause and corrective actions for tooling issues, product quality issues, and customer concerns.
  • Update prints for process changes or improvements
  • Execute prescribed maintenance plans
  • Upgrade and organize supporting documentation if needed
  • Optimize tooling through trials of materials and coatings for details
  • Plan and execute continuous improvement activities for production tooling
  • Gathering information during and after production runs to optimize the process and correct inefficiencies.
  • Assist in updating process and procedural controls to bring the project improvements to a permanent status.
  • Follow up on the effectiveness of the improvements.
  • Ensure tool reliability for assigned stamping press 

Productivity Responsibility: 

  • Optimize stamping tools and assembly machines
  • Optimize SPM through tooling and supporting equipment improvements
  • Monitor tooling downtimes and implement measures to avoid downtimes
  • Monitor OEE and work with the team to ensure the OEE goal 

Skill requirements 

  • Microsoft office
  • 3D and 2D drawing software knowledge is not required but a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of tool and die practices
  • Troubleshooting of metal stamping tools
  • Must be able to organize complex data and reports
  • Knowledge of Sensor setup and installation is a plus
