Job Description

We have an immediate opportunity with a great organization in the Dayton area for an Operations Manager.  This position will lead the entire manufacturing operation and will be the champion of the culture.  

This position would require leadership of the entire manufacturing system to include schedule attainment, labor management, metric management, work place organization, plant leadership, interfacing with the financial group on performance, problem solving, employee development, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Labor control to minimize cost while maintaining safe and quality-driven labor activities.
  • Directs and manages plant operations for safety, quality, production, maintenance, engineering and production control.
  • Coordinates plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the all objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Controls and minimizes labor overtime, premium freight and repair expenses.
  • Maintains existing plant facilities and equipment; replaces or makes adjustments to equipment when necessary.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Provides direction, development and leadership to production supervisor.

 Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Proven experience with labor control: ability to control cost while maintaining safe and quality-driven labor activities.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position is responsible for managers within the plant along with each department performance objectives. Works with HR when the need arises to hire any new employees.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or five years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment.
