Job Description

  • The Night Shift Supervisor, under the direction of the Plant Manager, will be responsible for overseeing extrusion manufacturing processes and personnel on their assigned shift.
  • In addition, this position is responsible for achieving defined operational performance metrics and in supervising the department's hourly personnel, administers policies and procedures, and manages personnel management initiatives.
  • Hours for this position are 7pm-7am on a rotating schedule – work 3 days, off 2 days, work 2 days, off 3 days, work 2, off 2 days. Work 15 days a month! 


  • Selects, supervises, develops, evaluates and motivates personnel on their designated shift
  • Ensures operational Scrap Utilization Rate goals are met
  • Plans and organizes human resources effectively to maximize productivity, while ensuring safety and quality requirements are adhered to
  • Provides technical leadership to shift personnel, to include: line setup/operation, metrics definition/reporting, testing, troubleshooting, and training facilitation
  • Directs personnel management initiatives to include: attendance tracking, staffing, safety training/reporting, employee performance reviews, counseling and corrective action, and development/retention
  • Promotes continuous improvement initiatives to include 6S and Lean Manufacturing
  • Troubleshoots production issues and implements permanent solutions
  • Participates in Root Cause Corrective Action meetings to address production issues
  • Conducts investigations involving near misses, incidents and accidents and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken
  • Works closely with human resources and in managing workers' compensation claims and return-to-work program to limit liability
  • Successfully completes professional development initiatives and promotes developmental opportunities to shift personnel
  • Performs additional duties as needed and/or assigned by supervision/management 

Required Skills

  • 5 plus years of experience in extrusion processing environment
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards and timekeeping/payroll system (Kronos/E-Time)
  • Three to five years in a similar position
