Job Description

Experienced Technical Writer needed by busy manufacturing facility in the Dayton area!


  • Create, revise and maintain technical manuals from beginning to final release.
  • Research and compile technical data, illustrations, and operating information from appropriate Subject Matter Experts.
  • Using standard manual template and Adobe Frame Maker, organize technical information into accurate, easily understandable technical manuals through clear writing, careful editing, consistent formatting, and effective placement of graphics.
  • Create new graphics and/or modify existing graphics (illustrations) using Adobe Illustrator or equivalent software.
  • Generate Table of Contents for manuals.
  • Generate and edit Index for manuals in accordance with The Chicago Manual of Style recommendations.
  • Convert completed and approved manuals to Adobe Acrobat PDF format.
  • Assist in creating/developing /maintaining intranet sites. Ensure the look and feel of these sites is consistent with Corporate requirements.


  • BA degree from four-year college or university and one to three years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer degree in Technical Writing, Journalism, English, or Communications.
  • Must be proficient in current versions of Adobe Acrobat, FrameMaker and Illustrator.
  • Must work within tight and/or changing project deadlines.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
