Job Description

We have a direct hire opportunity for a Lead Engineer in the Dayton area.  This individual will be responsible for leading all facets of the engineering business including process, product and configuration engineering. You will lead a culture of continuous improvement and set strategy for business growth. Reports directly to VP of Operations.

Responsible for off-site engineering group (Vermont)

Develop manufacturing/assembly processes that are applicable to best practices and and process optimization which leads to reduced lead times and reduced costs.

Interface with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products and to provide guidance regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

Supervisory responsibilities for Mechanical Engineer and Field Engineering technician as well as future engineering and/or customer specifications.

Identify nonconforming product, contribute to root cause failures and disposition of product to engineering and/or customer specifications.

Effectively implement the launch of new products with the manufacturing team. Focusing on the ability to manufacture and sealing for depth requirements.

Design the sequence of operations and specify a procedure that affect product performance or assists/aids the manufacturing processes.

Designs and develops mechanical components, equipment, systems, subsystems and products applying knowledge and principals of mechanical design and engineering.

Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing priorities

Utilized 3D software to design and develop components

Designed components with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical limits

Design suitable mounts for optics and power supply systems

Estimate manufacturing costs, evaluates time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines

Explore and recommend changes to manufacturing systems based on analysis of cost effective methods

Manage dept. budget and related expenses

Provide guidance and direction for implementing, operating and improving the Quality system. Insure compliance with ISP 9001

Analyze and interpret manufacturing techniques, procedures and process conditions to ensure customer quality requirements are met

Provide customer support for troubleshooting compliance and customer returns, and for answering customer action requests

Provide technical input in the management of plant capital projects, providing direction and guidance on cost and schedule control
