Job Description

General Area of Responsibility:

Track materials, analyze schedules and coordinate purchasing and scheduling activities to meet production needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Review production schedules, work orders, and other documents to determine materials requirements and priorities. Responsible for all aspects of material and scheduling of production for assigned product.
  • Revise production schedules as needed for design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with staff managers, engineering, sales, and production.
  • Requisition, manage, and maintain inventories of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Distribute production schedules and/or work orders to departments.
  • Compile reports of material changes, pricing changes or any other variances relevant to raw material or component price differences. Reviews all invoices to purchase orders and receipts.
  • Secures and analyzes quotes, negotiates pricing and terms with suppliers, and makes recommendations with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness. Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies to determine best pricing, material availability, and shipping methods.
  • Maintain records of materials ordered, received, and produced. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or relevant discipline required.
  • Two (2) or more years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Proficient with Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Familiarity with Kanban and just-in-time manufacturing processes.
