Job Description

We have an immediate, DIRECT HIRE opportunity for a Mechanical Systems Engineer in the Dayton area with a great company!

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Mechanical design and support
  2. Create detailed assembly drawings
  3. Create conceptual drawings and simulations layouts
  4. Create and maintain detailed Bill of Materials
  5. Support all technical RFQ inquiries to include development of conceptual drawings, cost estimates and delivery capabilities.
  6. Meet with customers and obtain detailed information in regard to certain projects
  7. Manage assigned projects related to mechanical system engineering
  8. Preparation of equipment manuals and supporting documentation
  9. Provide technical engineering support for all departments as required

 

SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop capabilities to support offline programming tools
  1. Develop and maintain system technical and operational documentation

      Pre-Engineered work cells

  1. Respond to customer technical support inquiries
  2. Electrical controls design and support
  3. Prepare and distribute technical documentation, presentations, and bulletin reports
  4. Respond to sales inquiries and support/prepare engineering quotations
  5. Assemble, test and troubleshoot robotic and system equipment

 

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION:  Under general supervision, perform a variety of skilled work in engineering, project management, and document preparation; perform related work as required.

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:  Computer and general office equipment.  CAD and other related technical software.  Hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:  Other engineering staff, all other company departments, customers, and vendors.

WORKING CONDITIONS: General office conditions.  General manufacturing environment, with specific environment frequently unknown, due to the fact that job may take employee into other businesses.  Travel via company vehicle or airplane as necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Mechanical design engineering techniques; basic electrical controls, manufacturing, integration and machining techniques and processes.

Ability to: Understand and carry out oral and written instructions; use a personal computer; use of Solid Edge (3D) and AutoCAD (2D) software; communicate in an effective manner.  Perform physical assembly of mechanical and electrical components.  Maintain and demonstrate a positive and cooperative attitude in the work place and toward fellow employees. 

Skill / Experience in: Engineering related environment; preparation of technical documents and materials; Bill of Materials development; creating designs and drawings in 2D & 3D CAD environment (specifically Solid Edge), integration of mechanical systems.

 Education: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent formal or informal experience and education to perform the position successfully; and
  2. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in mechanical design and system integration; preferred background in robotics or automation.
