Job Description

The PLC Programmer/Controls Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair of production and facility programmable equipment.  This position will be specialized in PLC programming and electrical/controls related work.  Performs a wide variety of skilled work across multiple-functions and operations of the preventive maintenance system.

Job Core Responsibilities
Create PLC programs for production machines and facility equipment
Perform maintenance skills including, but not limited to, PLC program troubleshooting and repair of production machines or facilities equipment
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
Aid in and design of equipment related to electrical/controls and programming - implement said system improvements
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clearn and orderly work areas
Other responsibilities as assigned
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
Job Specifications
Education:  A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Years Experience:  6-8 years in relevant experience
Skills :

Working knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical components and equipment
Prior PLC programming experience
Ability to create, draw and read machine related drawings with emphasis towards electric controls
Familiar with reading and interpreting documents, schematics and blueprints
Able to recognize and solve typical problems from established operating procedures and/or scientific methods
Experience in operating forklifts  and other powered equipment
Ability to work within a team environment and able to adapt to changes in work requirements
Excellent customer service skills
