Job Description

We have an immediate direct hire opportunity in the Dayton area for a Manufacturing Engineer with a great company!


The Manufacturing Engineer supports the manufacturing and quality efforts through the development and creation and maintenance of robust manufacturing processes and documentation. The Quality Engineer also participates as required, in product design initiatives, process and product improvement initiatives, product development efforts and customer interactions.

" Product and Process Development
o Assist in the development and validation of new products and/or processes
" Product design
" Process design documentation
" Process validation
" Customer approval
" General mechanical design (fixtures, end of arm tooling, machine build, etc.)
" Product and Process Documentation
o Develop and maintain all product and process documentation for manufacturing and quality functions:
" Drawings (finished parts, in-process parts, inspection, tooling, gaging, fixtures, etc.)
" Work Instructions (machine operating procedures, product inspection instructions)
" Machine programs (CNC lathes and mills, robots, PLC's, etc.)
" Mid-Tier Procedures (NCM, SPC, Critical Characteristics, Etc.)
" Other documentation and procedures as required to ensure QMS compliance
o Develop and maintain engineering and quality file storage system to ensure ease of retrieval, modification and documented revisions
" Continuous Improvement
o Contribute to general manufacturing and quality improvement initiatives using established quality tools:
" NCM trend analysis
" SPC deployment and evaluation
" First Pass Yield analysis
" Rework analysis
" Corrective action implementation (to include customer generated corrective action requests)
o Assist in the deployment of automation initiatives
" Fixture design
" Tooling design
" Machine layout design
" Process flow design
" Etc.
o Manage all 3D printing efforts in conjunction with
" General Quality Support
o Participate in internal and external QMS system audits
o Develop and/or provide input into Control Plans
o Support gage calibration compliance through training, education and auditing of gage calibration technicians
o Improve gaging techniques and hardware to ensure effective measurement as required
o Provide support to QC inspectors as needed for technical and/or quality related issues
o Participate in customer interactions as required for:
" Problem resolution
" Corrective action support
" Quality and/or manufacturing documentation requests
" Product inspection
" Product screening

" Strong written and verbal communication skills

" Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
" Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel)
" Proficiency with basic computer functionality
" Advanced mathematical competency
" Ability to analyze data and reach conclusions from such data.
" Proficiency with standard measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
" Basic understanding of ISO 9001
" Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, departmental goals and company mission

Experience in the following areas is preferred for this position:
" Knowledge of SPC or other statistical techniques
" Proficient using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD or other Computer Aided Design (CAD) system

Experience in the following areas is recommended for this position:
" 5+ years of industrial or mechanical engineering or quality experience

" 4-year college degree preferred
