Job Description

Objective 

The Mechanical Engineer of HVAC will engineer the HVAC components and sub-system for hybrid and electric vehicles. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Identifies and defines the scope of the HVAC sub-system design project and works to complete the required engineering in a timely and through manner.
  • Collaborates with other engineers from a variety of disciplines to find innovative solutions to automotive engineering challenges.
  • Uses 3D computer aided design (CAD) to effectively design and integrate cabin heating and AC, battery heating and cooling, and electronics cooling loop components into a vehicle platform.
  • Understands how their mechanical engineering work affects other engineering disciplines and works with them to complete projects in a time and cost-effective manner.
  • Completes engineering work with manufacturing and vehicle production in mind.
  • Uses thermal analysis and calculations where appropriate to ensure reliable and efficient engineering design

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree
  • Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD environment and 2D drawings environment
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications as well as other computer-based engineering tools
  • Has experience doing system level thermal calculations and/or simulations
  • Familiar with Solidworks EPDM
  • Has experience supporting continuous product improvement of an engineering product currently in production
  • Experience in automotive HVAC and glycol based cooling loops
  • Experience with electric vehicles preferred but not required
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced innovative engineering environment
