Job Description


The Electrical Engineer - Battery & HVAC ensures the proper design, development, and testing of electrical equipment/components relating to Electric Vehicle (EV) battery & HVAC systems. Electrical Engineer - Battery & HVAC should be familiar with mathematical and engineering principles and methods used to design various electrical systems. 

Job Responsibilities 

Researches, develops, designs, and tests vehicle electrical components, equipment, and systems by performing the following duties.

  • Implements product engineering design and development, with emphasis on battery cell technologies and related integration into electrified vehicle programs.
  • Collaborates with other engineers from a variety of disciplines to find innovative solutions to automotive engineering challenges.
  • Uses 3D & 2D computer aided design (CAD) to effectively design and integrate components/subsystems into an electric vehicle platform.
  • Verifies that manufacturing, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and regulatory requirements for battery & climate control systems.
  • Assists the service department in implementation of new and existing electrical components.
  • Designs the fabrication of test control apparatus/equipment and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing battery parameters including internal thermal properties.
  • Performs vehicle HVAC system design and other basic vehicle dynamics modeling. 

Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering design experience required.
  • Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD environment and Solidworks Electrical 2D environment.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications as well as other computer-based engineering tools.
  • Has experience in lithium ion battery cell technology and climate control systems.
  • Experience with battery welding processes and tooling a plus.
  • Professional familiarity with Electric Vehicle (EV) systems in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced innovative engineering environment.
