Project/Program Manager

The Program Manager is responsible for the execution of our Program Management process in support of the organization's Vision, Mission and Values reporting to the Group Manager of Program Management.

Core responsibility is the successful implementation of new projects using company cross-functional core teams, ensuring all customer and the Company's objectives and goals are complete within customer's time line.


  • Owns both the authorship and company compliance to our corporate Product Development Plan (PDP). Drives all support groups to deliver to the structure and expectation of our PDP process
  • This includes the responsibility for introduction of assigned awarded programs from concept to completion of launch until all goals and objectives are closed under our PDP process
  • Ensure all applicable steps outlined in the PDP are completed and managed to meet customer expectations
  • Responsible for creating, updating, follow up & issuing of critical path master program-timing charts to the cross functional team members
  • Responsible for reviewing all engineering/manufacturing and external timing charts, ensuring alignment to customer requirements
  • Ensures all milestones are met, both customer & internal
  • Co-ordinates regular core team meetings
  • Assists team members in removing any roadblocks and resolving of problems that can affect the project
  • Reports to management any major problems that affect timing, cost and implementation of project
  • Monitors and tracks program costs execution to award. Ensures that changes are tracked and managed to meet original award intent
  • Initiate costing requests and information for Engineering Changes
  • Responsible for meeting program budgeted costs, timing and objectives
  • Facilitate communication between customer, sales, engineering functions, purchasing, finance and operations
  • Support technical solutions to meet customer and Hematite cost, quality, and delivery expectations
  • Provides project support at customer locations as needed
  • Summarize suggested improvements for future projects & close off after completion
  • Prepare project requirements for budget
  • Tracks and reports SR&ED activity, hours and costs in a timely manner
  • Main technical contact to the customer
  • Oversee design responsibility internally including Design reviews, DFMEA, DVP/R, Feasibility reviews and design for manufacturing
  • Support the customer on any technical reviews including presentations of products and or designs
  • Work with the CAD designers to ensure on time completion of internal and customer drawings, and 3D cad data where and when applicable
  • Coordinates the design and development of parts and prototypes to meet customer/Hematite timing, cost and performance expectations. Ensures needed alignment of product design to manufacturing and environmental requirements
  • Communicates design direction and customer technical requirements including product and material specifications to the Engineering Department and program teams. Participants and supports the team to check and approve all part design information prior to its release, including GD&T where applicable
  • Inputs required BOM to develop costs for products using our Plex system
  • Able to technically develop an understanding of materials used (HDPE and non-wovens primarily, but also fiberglass and extruded materials) as well as various processes used (compression, vacuum forming, and extrusion). Ability to assist internally and externally with the development of new and improved materials
  • Actively participates in TS16949 and ISO14001 activities as appropriate
  • Support and guidance to be provided by both the Group Manger and Senior PM (Program Management)
  • Other assignments as required


This role is responsible for direct supervision of members of our Program Management team.


  • BS in Engineering. Mechanical or Materials focus preferred
  • Formal Project Management training/experience required
  • Proficiency in project management and problem solving skills gained through wide experience in the automotive industry
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in automotive Program Management roles at a Tier 1 level
  • Willingness to travel (Estimate 30%)
