Job Description

The Engineering Manager has overall responsibility for the engineering functions of the business. These engineering responsibilities include Product Design and Development, Process Development, Automation and Continuous Improvement. The Engineering Manager reports to the executive team and is considered a key functional leader in the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
" Coordinate with Sales & Marketing and Customers to facilitate the design and development of products that achieve market goals, conform to regulatory compliance, and meet business objectives.
" Design and implement manufacturing systems that produce products to target quality and production goals
o Tooling design
o Equipment selection
o Process Flow
o Automation
o PFMEA's
o Safety
" Assume the lead role in managing and implementing plant-wide automation initiatives
o Design
o Equipment selection
o Cost and ROI analysis
" Improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
" Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
" Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
" Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
" Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
" Manage and develop technical team (engineers, draftsmen, technicians, etc.) as necessary to achieve above duties and responsibilities


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

" Strong written and verbal communication skills
" Highly organized
" Ability to work and lead within a team people
" Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
" Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, Excel)
" Proficiency with basic computer functionality
" Advanced mathematical competency
" Ability to analyze data and reach conclusions from such data.
" Proficiency with standard measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
" Basic understanding of ISO 9001
" Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions, departmental goals and company mission

Experience in the following areas is preferred for this position:
" Knowledge of SPC or other statistical techniques
" PFMEA's
" Proficient using AutoCAD or other CAD system

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the following areas is recommended for this position:
" 5+ year(s) of mechanical engineering preferred

Education
" 4-year college degree preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, use hands, lift moderately heavy items (up to 60lb's), climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear
