Sr. Controls Engineer 

Job Overview:

In this newly created role, the Sr. Controls Engineer is a facility-based engineering role responsible for leading all controls aspects of machinery and equipment along with coordination and ownership of the traceability information in the SQL database. 

 Job Description:

  • Lead controls specification development for machinery and equipment.
  • Support process and machinery capability studies and equipment installations.
  • Lead efforts regarding application of machine code throughout the plant.
  • Lead troubleshooting of controls issues on machinery and equipment.
  • Track and maintain all PLC/Controls codes.
  • Lead efforts to upgrade and improve PLC controls and operations.
  • Lead bar code systems throughout the plant.
  • Lead MES and Sql Server Database.
  • Support validation of all new and modified processes.
  • Participate in PFMEA and work instruction reviews when required.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects (e.g. cost reduction, efficiency improvement).
  • Lead controls specification development for machinery and equipment.
  • Review all electrical drawings for new equipment during the design phase.
  • Create electrical drawings and/or modify electrical drawings utilizing AutoCAD Electrical when needed.
  • Support weekend work as required 


  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or controls engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of control engineering experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Working knowledge of PLC, HMI’s, touchscreens, PC’s, relays, contactors, servos, steppers, low voltage circuits, high voltage circuits, torque drivers, bar code systems, database storage, vision systems, robotic cells, etc…
    • Allen Bradley, Siemens, Ignition, SQL Database, Bosch Rexroth, Keyence, Cognex
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Rockwell, AutoCAD Electrical, Ignition is a requirement
  • Working knowledge with machine electrical cabinet layout, wiring and machine controls is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge with .NET and C# is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SQL database programming and interfacing to PLC line controls is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Siemens software is a plus.
  • Working Experience with machine electrical cabinet layout and machine controls
